THE PROCESS
Before you come into the showroom, please note:
- If you did not purchase your window coverings from us, please contact your original dealer to have them start the repair process.
- A processing fee applies if your dealer is not able to obtain an RGA number on your behalf.
- If you were not the original purchaser of the shade, then it is not covered under warranty.
- If your shade is more than 20 years old it is likely out of warranty as it has reached its end of life as determined by Hunter Douglas. The lifetime warranty is for the expected life of the product, not your lifetime.
- If your shade is over 10 years old, call us before filling out the form below, it may or may not be under warranty.
- If Hunter Douglas no longer manufactures the parts for your shade, it will not be under warranty.
- Power View shades have a 5-year warranty, please call if you have a motorized shade. While shades older than this can possibly be repaired, they will not be under warranty.
Don’t worry, even if you are not our customer or your shade is out of warranty, we have a special discount to replace shades with a similar product. We are here to help!
Next Steps:
- Fill out the form below with as much info as you can find. We will get back to you likely within an hour or two with an update on your warranty status and/or an estimate of any fees that may be associated with your repair. While you do not have to fill out this form, it will save you a lot of time to get the process started before you come in.
- Initial Assessment – Bring your clean shade (we will not work on shades that are overly dirty) into our showroom. We will have the form you filled waiting to start the process. We can help you find info if you were not able to get it yourself.
- If you can’t find the info on the headrail of your product, make sure to at least figure out your date of purchase.
- It is also helpful to measure the opening of your window so we can double check that the size is right for a replacement.
- We will give you a quote to replace the shade along with the repair estimate.
- Pay Assessment/Processing Fee – See fees below. (This is waived for warranty customers with an RGA)
- Diagnosis – Our repair technician will contact you in 1-2 business days with a diagnosis for repair.
- Repairable Products – If there are any additional fees beyond the initial estimate, our technician will let you know what is wrong with the shade and give you a quote. If you agree to this quote your shade will be repaired and you will receive a call from one of our showroom associates to let you know it is ready for pick-up.
- Irreparable Products – Our technician will let you know why your product cannot be repaired. From here you can either get a quote for a deep discount on an equivalent replacement shade or you can pick up your shade/have us dispose of it
We no longer repair non-hunter douglas shades.
REPAIR TIMELINE
2-10 business days in house | 2-3 weeks to send shades back to Hunter Douglas (we can have the shades shipped directly back to you if you would like)
REPAIR FEES
$50 – Handling fee for Hunter Douglas warranties. Fee is generally waived for Colorado Blinds & Design customers
$100 – $500 – General range for repairs with an average around $100.
Certain more complicated warranty claims may incur additional processing fees.
HUNTER DOUGLAS WARRANTY
Hunter Douglas’ Limited Lifetime Warranty covers all internal mechanisms and working parts. You must be the original purchaser and the issue cannot be caused by mis-use (torn fabric, pet damage) to be eligible for warranty work.
Cords are covered for 7 years from the order date.
Motors are covered for 5 years from the order date.
Internal mechanisms are covered for the lifetime of the shade.
