Motorization and Window Coverings

At Colorado Blinds & Design, our staff has over 50 years combined experience in the industry. One of our installers, Chris Bobbs, has 15 years experience alone. He recently obtained his Hunter Douglas® Motorized Installer certification and is our resident expert on motorized shades. A little product knowledge goes a long way, so read below or stop in our showroom for all your motorization questions!

Motorization can be applied to a variety of shades in a variety of manners. They are:

PowerTilt™ with Platinum™ Technology: This motorized lifting system combines both line-of-sight (using infrared technology) and “out-of-sight” control (using radio frequency technology) to control the window coverings.

The PowerTilt™ battery-powered system only tilts slats open or closed.  One remote can control a group of window coverings to tilt together, even in multiple rooms.

PowerGlide® 2.0 with Platinum™ Technology: This motorized lifting system combines both line-of-sight (using infrared technology) and “out-of-sight” control (using radio frequency technology) to control the window coverings.

PowerGlide® 2.0 motorized lifting system allows you to open and close sheer products  and rotate the fabric vanes. One remote can control a group of window coverings to tilt together, even in multiple rooms.

Hard Wiring: Hunter Douglas® Window coverings can be controlled through hard wiring the shade’s controls into the home’s existing wiring. The shades are operated wit the Platinum™ wall-switch with optional Platinum remote or through any home automation system.

In conjunction with a Platinum wall-switch, shades can also be controlled from a Platinum remote control. This is the same remote that is used with Hunter Douglas PowerRise®, PowerGlide®, and PowerTilt™ products. Using the Platinum remote, window coverings can be controlled individually or in groups.

Tilt-Only: Available with the PermAlign® and PermaTrak® Headrails to provide motorized vane rotation for vertical window coverings. Controls for this motorization include an infrared remote control unit or a table or wall mountable switch unit.

  • Vane rotation can be stopped at any point
  • Simple installation requires no special wiring
  • Low-voltage provides added safety.

Full Tilt and Traverse: Full tilt and traverse motorization for vertical blinds is available with switch control, remote control or a combination of both. The full tilt and traverse system is available with the Specialty Systems headrail.
